The Genesis GV8 Hybrid arrives in Korea in September with an innovative water-cooling system
The Genesis GV80 Hybrid will arrive in South Korea next September and will feature an innovative propulsion system that uses water cooling.

The Genesis GV80 Hybrid is set to reach the Korean market next September. This model will be presented with an innovative propulsion system, which marks a debut for the brand. This model draws on everything introduced in the Kia Telluride and the Hyundai Palisade, with a 2.5-litre combustion engine, a starter motor and a traction motor that manages driving and regenerative braking.
However, there is one difference between the Kia and Hyundai models, and that is the use of a water-cooled battery, which is a novelty for the brand. Unlike air cooling, this system allows better control of battery temperature and more efficient operation during both discharging and charging.

The propulsion system
The Genesis GV80 Hybrid delivers a combined output of 347 CV and a maximum torque of 530 Nm. All this power is sent to the rear wheels through a seven-speed gearbox. This allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.1 seconds. This makes it more powerful than the current version and, in addition, will deliver a 25% fuel saving.

To do this, the Genesis GV80 will run on electric power from the moment it starts, until the driver reaches 30 km/h, which is when the combustion engine switches on. Electric mode is also prioritised when the car is stopped at a traffic light or in a traffic jam, so it burns no fuel in those moments. It also uses electric mode when reversing, which is quite practical.
The combustion engine also offers less noise and vibration than in other versions, making the driving experience quieter and more pleasant. The regenerative braking system is adjusted automatically to achieve maximum efficiency, based on information from the navigation system, speed cameras and the distance to other vehicles.
Design and customisation options
The exterior design features a new front grille, while the interior adds four new two-tone designs and two types of wood trim, giving a more luxurious and high-quality finish.
