The new SsangYong Tivoli adds a 128 CV three-cylinder petrol engine to its line-up
Following the update it received last year, which was entirely necessary, the SsangYong Tivoli continues to complete its line-up, now with the new G12T petrol engine

The SsangYong Tivoli was facelifted last September after remaining on the market unchanged for four years since its launch in 2015. A change of image and technology was therefore more than necessary, especially considering that it is one of the best-selling models of the South Korean brand. In this way, the Tivoli has been introduced in the various markets, where we will now find a new engine that joins the range of engines already available.
This is a new aluminium engine block called G12T, developed to offer those who opt for it lower consumption and emissions than the rest of the range, while also maintaining acceptable performance. This engine was developed in collaboration with AVL and Bosch, using as a reference the engine positioned immediately above it, the G15T. It stands out for incorporating low-friction cylinders and pistons, as well as integrated, cooled exhaust manifolds in the cylinder head for greater efficiency, among other features. Another advantage, one that many people take note of, is that the timing drive uses a chain instead of a belt, thereby reducing maintenance costs.

This new G12T engine is a turbocharged petrol unit with three cylinders and 1,200 cc, featuring four valves per cylinder, double overhead camshafts and variable intake and exhaust valve timing. It delivers a power output of 128 CV together with a maximum torque of 230 Nm, available between 1,750 and 3,500 rpm, paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. With this engine, the SsangYong Tivoli records a combined consumption of 6.7 l/100 km and CO2 emissions of 153 g/km, figures based on the WLTP test cycle.
It should be noted that this engine can be paired with the Line, Urban and Premium trim levels, while the other petrol engine that completes the petrol offer and sits immediately above it, the G15T with 163 CV and a six-speed automatic gearbox, is reserved for the Urban and Limited trims (the latter also allows it to be paired with the six-speed manual gearbox). The rest of the Tivoli range is completed by the sole diesel option, the G16T engine with 136 CV, which can be fitted with either an automatic or manual gearbox.

The new G12T engine for the SsangYong Tivoli is now available on the Spanish market, with a starting price, including the commercial and financing campaign set by the brand, of 13,100 euros for the Line trim, from 16,100 euros for the Urban trim, and from 17,750 euros for the Premium trim.
