Xiaomi sets its sights on delivering more than half a million vehicles in 2026

The launch of new electric models in the coming years and its international expansion should allow Xiaomi to keep growing in the future.

Xiaomi, the Chinese company known until just over a year ago mainly for its consumer electronics devices, burst onto the electric vehicle market with force in 2025, but it does not intend to stop there, and it already has even more ambitious targets for this new year that has just begun.

Looking ahead to 2026, the company aims to deliver 550,000 vehicles, which, if achieved, would represent growth of 34 percent over the more than 410,000 units delivered in 2025. This target is especially ambitious, considering that Xiaomi took its first steps in the electric car sector in 2024.

The Chinese manufacturer debuted in April 2024 with the launch in its home market of the SU7 electric saloon, a model that became a real sales success from day one and of which 135,000 units were sold in the last nine months of that year alone. The success continued in 2025, when the company far exceeded its initial forecast of 300,000 units delivered, later raised to 350,000, to finally close the year above 410,000. The launch of the YU7 SUV in the summer of 2025 is also partly responsible for that strong increase in the number of units placed in the hands of its customers.

Revenue rising as a result of the increase in deliveries

Xiaomi’s progress in the automotive sector is also reflected in its financial results. In the first nine months of 2025, its electric vehicle division generated around 68.9 billion yuan in revenue, which at the current exchange rate amounts to roughly 8.4 billion euros. This figure was reached after the company posted a profit for the first time in the third quarter of the year.

Looking ahead, the company is preparing a significant expansion of its range. According to recent reports, it plans to introduce new models such as the large seven-seat YU9 SUV, a sporty version of the YU7 called the YU7 GT, and a long-wheelbase variant of the SU7, under the name SU7 L. These launches aim to cover new segments in order to attract the attention of new potential customers. Xiaomi also plans to begin its international expansion from 2027, with the European market as the initial priority.

Finally, it is worth noting that a possible explanation for Xiaomi’s rapid rise in this competitive sector lies in its strategy of drawing inspiration from established designs of other manufacturers, adapting them with its own innovations and tailoring them to local preferences. This approach, known in China as “Shanzai“, has allowed it to nimbly transfer its consumer electronics experience to the automotive world, achieving a prominent position among the new electric vehicle players in a short time.
