Zeekr begins accepting orders in Europe for its new 7GT estate

With this launch, Zeekr kicks off a key year in the brand’s expansion outside China, with more models on the way, aiming to establish itself as a serious contender in the European premium electric vehicle market.

Zeekr unveiled the new Zeekr 7GT at the Brussels Motor Show, a premium estate with a distinctly sporty character and fully electric drivetrain, positioning it as the Chinese brand’s most ambitious bet in the Old Continent, where it already sells other vehicles such as the 001, the X and the 7X.

The 7GT shares its platform with the 7X SUV and is technically derived from models such as the 007 and 007GT sold in China. Zeekr presents the 7GT, however, as a vehicle designed and tuned specifically for the peculiarities of the European market, with particular emphasis on styling, chassis and setup for the continent’s roads.

Measuring 4.82 metres long, 2.07 metres wide -including the mirrors-, 1.46 metres high and with a wheelbase of 2.9 metres, the 7GT stands out for its spacious cabin, in which five occupants will travel in great comfort with plenty of luggage. To that end it offers a 456-litre boot, and also includes practical features such as compatibility with roof bars, a ski hatch and the option of a towbar for a trailer of up to 1.6 tonnes.

Two battery packs to choose from

The 800V architecture of this new Zeekr model allows ultra-rapid charging, supporting up to 480 kW of DC power, just like the 7X. Equipped with a 75 kWh LFP or 100 kWh NMC battery pack, depending on the version, the manufacturer claims it can raise the state of charge from 10 to 80 per cent in just 13 or 16 minutes, respectively. It also accepts AC charging of up to 22 kW.

The Chinese manufacturer sells three versions in Europe. Two of them, Core RWD and Long Range RWD, feature rear-wheel drive and a 310 kW motor, while the top-of-the-range Privilege AWD Launch Edition has all-wheel drive and dual electric motors delivering a combined output of 475 kW. The latter can reach 100 km/h from a standstill in 3.3 seconds, compared with 5.3 seconds for the other two, and its top speed is limited to 210 km/h.

It is also worth noting that the Long Range RWD version offers the greatest range, with 655 km under the WLTP homologation cycle, according to the manufacturer.

Behind the wheel there is no doubt it is a premium vehicle

Finally, turning to the interior, it revolves around a digital cockpit with a 13-inch instrument cluster display, plus a 15-inch central screen and a head-up display on higher versions. There is also a premium sound system, and ventilated massage seats in the top-of-the-range version.

The price list for the different versions of this new model from the Chinese manufacturer varies considerably by country. In any case, taking Germany as a reference, there the entry-level Core RWD version is on sale from 47,990 euros, although in other markets such as the Netherlands it is around 2,000 euros cheaper. The Long Range RWD version in Germany starts at 50,990 euros, while the top-of-the-range Privilege AWD Launch Edition costs 57,490 euros.
