Ford Puma Gen-E: the best-selling car in Europe from the blue oval brand goes electric
If you’re looking for an electric vehicle that isn’t too big, has good design and finish, and at a price that isn’t excessive, take a look at the new Ford Puma Gen-E. We think you’re going to like it.
Following the Mustang Mach-E, the Explorer and the Capri, Ford has just expanded its range of electric models in Europe with an even more affordable model: the new Puma Gen-E. The combustion version of the Puma has been a sales success in Europe in recent years, and with this new model featuring an electric propulsion system, the North American manufacturer hopes to boost sales of this type of vehicle on the continent.
With dimensions of 4,214 mm in length, 1,803 mm in width, and a wheelbase of 2,588 mm, the Puma Gen-E is the perfect vehicle for anyone looking for a city car to get around town, without giving up the chance to take a longer-distance getaway.

The Puma Gen-E will be manufactured at Ford’s Romanian plant located in Craiova – not to be confused with Kraków in Poland – where the previous generation was also built. This model, primarily urban, will come equipped as the sole option with a 43 kWh usable NMC battery pack, thanks to which the manufacturer promises an estimated WLTP range of 375 km. It is, therefore, as we have already said, a vehicle that will perform in urban environments like a fish in water, but that will also allow for the occasional not-too-long trip, with a range that, lacking the opportunity to test it so far, on the motorway at 120 km/h will probably allow covering nearly 300 km on a single charge.
If the journey is somewhat longer and requires a stop to recharge the battery pack, the maximum charging power of 100 kW it supports will make it possible to resume the journey with almost no time to grab a drink at the bar and stretch your legs a little. Ford claims it is possible to increase the state of charge from 10 to 80 percent in just over 23 minutes, which means you can cover more than 200 additional km.
Don’t complicate your life by choosing from a long list of versions
The new Ford Puma Gen-E will be available in two different trim levels to choose from, both with the same powertrain. The motor is located on the front axle and is capable of delivering up to 123 kW of power, with 290 Nm of torque. The new electric model from the North American manufacturer will thus be able to reach 100 km/h from a standstill in eight seconds, only slightly slower than the current petrol Puma ST, which stops the clock in 7.4 seconds.

Visually, the Puma Gen-E maintains the design language of the previous generation with an additional touch of modernity. The front end is somewhat reminiscent of that of its bigger brother, the Mustang Mach-E, while the rear features a spoiler that gives it a sportier look. Something also helped by the new alloy wheels the manufacturer has integrated.
The modernity of the exterior design also extends to the interior, where we find as standard a 12-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system in a horizontal position with the Sync 4 system from Ford, accompanied by a 12.8-inch digital instrument cluster for the driver. The vehicle also features the much-requested integration of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Plenty of space for whatever you need
The new Puma Gen-E also retains one of the hallmarks of its combustion-engine predecessor: its enormous boot. Named by the manufacturer GigaBox, it offers a total cargo volume of 574 litres, plus an additional 43 litres under the bonnet. With its just over 4 metres in length, the new electric model from Ford therefore offers more luggage space than many vehicles in higher segments.

As for equipment, even the entry-level version is very well equipped, with 17-inch wheels, LED headlights, cruise control, a six-speaker audio system, heated mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, ambient lighting, Amazon Alexa and front seats adjustable in four directions. The Premium version adds to all this equipment a B&O Play sound system with ten speakers, keyless entry, a hands-free tailgate, 18-inch wheels and dynamic LED headlights. Additionally and optionally, you can add intelligent adaptive cruise control with automatic stop and go, lane centring and cross-traffic alerts, as well as a 360-degree camera.

The Ford Puma Gen-E will be available for sale in Europe early next year and its price will start at just over 30,000 euros.
