Mercedes-Benz officially unveils the new electric C-Class
With this new model, Mercedes-Benz aims to regain its leading position in the premium electric saloon segment, combining advanced technology, greater efficiency and the dynamic character that has always defined the C-Class.
Over the past few months, BMW and Mercedes-Benz have pursued a parallel strategy with their new electric platforms. BMW first presented its Neue Klasse with the iX3 SUV at the IAA 2025, and shortly afterwards unveiled the i3 saloon. Mercedes-Benz, for its part, has followed a similar path with the launch of the electric GLC as the first model on the MB.EA-M platform, before finally officially presenting its new electric C-Class saloon.
The similarities between this new electric C-Class and the GLC are not few, except for its lower and more streamlined silhouette. Its headlights, the illuminated grille and the lower air intakes are more reminiscent of the SUV than of the CLA’s design. Meanwhile, in profile, its stretched roofline and compact rear clearly evoke the EQE, although with a slightly longer bonnet. At 4.90 metres long, the new electric C-Class comes dangerously close to the dimensions of the EQE, which has led to speculation about a possible gradual withdrawal of the latter.

From a technical standpoint, the new electric C-Class represents an important step forward for the German manufacturer. The initial C400 4MATIC version features an 800-volt architecture, a 94 kWh battery pack, a peak charging power of up to 360 kW and a range reaching 762 km WLTP. It far surpasses the EQE, thanks above all to the new powertrains developed by Mercedes-Benz, which incorporate a two-speed transmission on the rear axle. The German manufacturer is also preparing a rear-wheel-drive version that will exceed 800 km of range.
There is no doubt that it is a Mercedes-Benz
As far as driving sensations are concerned, Mercedes-Benz has not wanted to miss the opportunity to point out that this is the sportiest C-Class of all time, in its own words. Optionally, it can be equipped with air suspension and rear-axle steering, which improve both agility and comfort. Despite its almost five metres in length, the electric C-Class promises handling close to that of a compact. It also gains in practicality, with a boot that grows to 490 litres, and there is additional space under the front bonnet, where a bag or a small suitcase can be stored, even in the 4MATIC version.

Inside, the new Mercedes-Benz philosophy prevails, characterised by a huge continuous screen spanning the entire dashboard, higher-quality materials and more space thanks to the extra ten centimetres of wheelbase.

Finally, it should be noted that although the price has not yet been confirmed, the C400 4MATIC version is expected to cost around 70,000 euros, slightly below the equivalent GLC. More affordable versions will follow later, as well as the much-anticipated AMG variant.
