Series production of the Volvo EX60 begins in Sweden
From now on, the Swedish manufacturer will focus its efforts on steadily increasing production while maintaining the highest quality, with the ultimate goal of driving the company’s growth in the coming quarters.
Series production of the new Volvo EX60 has already begun at the Torslanda plant, near the Swedish city of Gothenburg. In this way, Volvo is on schedule with its original plan, which will lead to the first customer deliveries of this mid-size electric SUV by early this summer.
As you may remember, Volvo unveiled the new EX60 at the beginning of the year. It is the first model from the Swedish brand based on the new and innovative SPA3 platform, thanks to which this new model features an 800-volt architecture, with all that this implies in terms of efficiency and supported charging power.

At launch, the EX60 will be available in three versions. The entry-level version will feature a single 275 kW motor located on the rear axle, paired with an 80 kWh battery pack. One step up the range will be a version with dual electric motors and all-wheel drive, delivering a combined output of 375 kW and equipped with a 91 kWh net-capacity battery pack. At the top of the range, the version called P12 AWD will offer performance never before seen in a model from the Swedish brand, with up to 500 kW of combined power and a 112 kWh battery pack that will allow it to enjoy a WLTP range of up to 810 km.
Unmatched at the charging point
One of the most outstanding features of the new Volvo EX60 is the high charging power it supports, thanks to the aforementioned 800-volt architecture. The all-wheel-drive versions of this electric SUV can reach up to 370 kW at certain moments, which allows a large part of the battery pack to be recharged in under 20 minutes. These figures are particularly significant within the competitive segment it belongs to, with rivals of the stature of the BMW iX3 and the Mercedes-Benz GLC, not to mention other Asian rivals that should not be overlooked either.
The Swedish manufacturer is, however, very optimistic about the level of acceptance the EX60 will achieve. So much so that Volvo has already announced an expansion of production capacity at the Torslanda plant for this same year, in anticipation of the strong demand expected.

To carry out production of the EX60 and other future electric models, the Swedish Torslanda plant underwent a thorough modernization in recent years, with an investment of around 10,000 million Swedish kronor. That is, about 930 million euros. The plant’s adaptation made it possible to incorporate advanced technologies such as Megacasting, an updated paint shop, a final assembly line, and a proprietary battery assembly system.
