The Geely Galaxy TT offers a compact and lightweight electric drive system that shouldn't exist
The Geely Galaxy TT has unveiled a compact electric drive system that includes 16 components of this system and enables greater efficiency.

Electric drive systems are usually quite compact and bring together all the components in a very limited space to achieve sufficient and efficient traction. But the Geely Galaxy TT has gone a step further and presented a fairly compact electric drive system that integrates 16 components of this electric drive system into a single unit weighing just 75 kg.
Inside a small and fairly lightweight housing are the motor, the DC-DC converter, the integrated charger, the vehicle control unit, the motor controller and the high-voltage battery management systems. This housing is made of magnesium, a strong and very lightweight material, which achieves an efficiency of 93.8%. Though this is under the CLTC homologation cycle.

These figures mean the driver can rest easy about this model’s consumption. In an efficiency test around Qinghai Lake in China, the model achieved a consumption of just 8.2 kW per 100 kilometres. This earned it an entry in the Guinness World Records as the production electric saloon with the lowest consumption on this route, used to measure consumption.

The Galaxy TT will offer three battery options. The first of these has a capacity of 52.4 kWh, while the mid-range model has a capacity of 63.8 kWh and the top-of-range is 75.2 kWh. All three batteries are mounted on an 800-volt architecture and will offer a maximum range of 725 kilometres under the CLTC cycle.
Small batteries for a very efficient model
The size of this model’s batteries is quite surprising. They are small for a car of this size, but this is explained by the fact that the model is more efficient than others, with consumption lower than similar models. Consequently, the need for a larger battery is not as significant and the car can obtain enough energy to move without problems.
There is not much more data about the Geely Galaxy TT, but the top-of-range version is expected, with two motors and all-wheel drive, to offer a power output of 425 kW, equivalent to 578 CV. With these figures, it will be able to reach 100 km/h from a standstill in 3.8 seconds. Another detail offered by Geely is that the drive system will be supported by AI-based management.
A 54-channel cooling system will even allow the maximum motor temperature to be reduced by 15ºC during intensive driving. This highly efficient electric drive system has been developed in collaboration with the company InfiMotion, one of Geely Auto Group’s partners in electric propulsion technology.
