Land Rover Range Rover GT Electric Cars
The new Range Rover GT will reach the market exclusively with an electric propulsion system
Although the Range Rover GT’s debut will exclusively feature electric versions, the EMA platform will allow Jaguar Land Rover to launch hybrid versions later on.
Based on the EMA platform –Electrified Modular Architecture-, the new Range Rover GT will initially reach the market with electric versions. The model is currently in the final phase of validation testing before its launch.
This will be the first fully electric Range Rover based on this platform. It will be produced at the Halewood plant in the United Kingdom. It is important to note, however, that although it will debut exclusively with an electric propulsion system, the EMA platform is flexible, and this will allow hybrid versions to be added to the range later on. For the time being, the brand has not revealed technical details such as battery capacity, range, power or charging times.

Within JLR’s strategy, the EMA platform will be used for compact electrified models, such as the future electric Range Rover Velar. However, larger models, such as the Range Rover Electric and the Range Rover Sport Electric, will use the MLA platform. In this way, the group will use different platforms depending on the segment.
It will be something different from what the brand has accustomed us to, but it will remain a genuine Range Rover
In terms of design, the GT aims to get closer to the classic concept of a grand tourer. The camouflaged prototypes show a lower, coupé-like silhouette, while maintaining the brand’s legendary off-road capability. Martin Limpert, the brand’s current CEO, describes this new model as the combination of effortless electric performance, exceptional comfort for long journeys and genuine off-road capability.

The interior of the new Range Rover GT will stand out for its minimalism and modern design, with a large central screen, a separate digital instrument cluster and ventilation grilles integrated into the dashboard. Textile materials will play an important role, and the second row promises generous legroom, although the exact dimensions have not yet been published. The brand plans, however, to reveal more information throughout the year.
