Aston Martin Valhalla Spider: the luxury convertible that sets the trend

The Aston Martin Valhalla Spider retains many of the features of the coupé version, but adapted to the special conditions of this variant.

It has only been a few months since the Aston Martin Valhalla Coupé hit the market, so the time had already come to see the iteration of this model we had been waiting for. The Spider version, the convertible, has just been unveiled and takes the level of this luxury coupé to a whole new level.

The important thing is that it keeps the characteristics of the model it is based on and offers an advantage over it. Its removable roof makes it one of the most attractive models in the brand’s current lineup. The black fabric removable roof is fitted as standard, although in the United States it will come with a hard top. In Europe, this roof is an option to equip the car.

With the soft top up, the Aston Martin Valhalla Spider can reach a top speed of 200 km/h, although with the carbon fibre hard top its top speed is the same as the coupé’s, namely 350 km/h. This top speed is also available with the roof removed, thanks to equipment that protects the occupants from the effects of the wind.

The exclusive wind deflector has been designed to prevent wind from bothering the occupants so they can enjoy the experience with all possible comfort, even at high speeds. It is fitted using four clips and, once the roof is refitted, it can be folded into three parts and stored in the new storage spaces in the cabin.

The stability system allows the car to adapt to the airflow and keeps control at all times, with or without the roof.

Inside, we find new Touring seats, designed to maintain occupant comfort while also making it easier to get in and out of the car. Optionally, the seats fitted to the coupé can be kept.

Engine of the Aston Martin Valhalla Spider

The convertible variant uses the same engine as the coupé version. This is a plug-in hybrid made up of a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 combustion engine delivering 828 CV. Three electric motors, powered by a high-performance battery (HPB, High-Performance Battery), increase this output by 251 CV, raising it to 1,079 CV.

Two of those electric motors are located on the front axle and use the electric torque vectoring system (E-TV, Electric Torque Vectoring), which improves both agility and stability. The third electric motor is integrated into the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and is responsible for sending torque to the rear axle through the electronically controlled differential.

The driver has four driving modes, so the vehicle takes care of optimising the chassis and other elements to deliver the driving experience required at any given moment. Overall, the convertible model is identical to the coupé, although it has been modified so that its specific characteristics do not affect the dynamics and aerodynamics of the version.
