Peugeot improves the E-3008 and E-5008 by adding battery preconditioning and V2L
With these improvements, which will eventually be extended to the entire range, Peugeot meets the demands of its customers and increases the competitiveness of its electric models.
Peugeot has just announced significant upgrades to its electric E-3008 and E-5008 models, based on the STLA Medium platform, which we will now analyse.
The first of these is the integration of the long-awaited battery preconditioning system, which will allow owners of both vehicles to optimise battery performance when charging with direct current at fast chargers, especially in adverse weather conditions with very low outside temperatures.

The second upgrade worth highlighting, as we already mentioned in the title of this post, is the implementation of V2L (Vehicle-to-Load), as already seen in other models from the brand. This new function makes it possible to use the energy stored in the vehicle’s battery to power electronic devices of all kinds, simply by connecting them to an adapter with a standard Schuko plug like the ones we all have in our homes.
We can expect these improvements across the entire electric range of Peugeot
The French brand first introduced V2L technology on the E-208 and E-2008. By the end of 2025, this feature will be available as standard on models based on the STLA Medium platform, including the E-308 in all its fully electric versions. In addition, from the first quarter of 2026, it will also arrive on the E-408.
Thanks to this new feature, with a special adapter connected to the vehicle’s charging port, it is possible to supply up to 3 kW of power to any electronic device, enough to charge devices such as laptops or electric bicycles, or to operate power tools and small household appliances. According to Peugeot, this feature is ideal for outdoor activities, work in remote locations or emergency situations where access to electricity is limited.

On the other hand, the battery preconditioning system especially benefits users who regularly use fast chargers on their journeys. This system raises the battery temperature in cold climates, allowing it to reach the maximum charging power of 160 kW more quickly, since charging is slower when the battery is cold.
Peugeot states that with this system the battery can raise its temperature by 10 degrees Celsius in just 20 minutes, allowing the state of charge to increase from 20 to 80 percent in less than 30 minutes.
Don’t worry about a thing
As with other competing vehicles, battery preconditioning is activated automatically when planning a trip with intermediate charging stops, without the driver having to do absolutely anything. However, the French brand also offers the option of activating it manually from the vehicle’s touchscreen or through the MyPeugeot app. In the latter case, the cabin is preconditioned as long as the vehicle is connected to the mains and the 80 percent charge limit is deactivated.

Peugeot stresses that a fast, reliable and predictable charge is essential for the comfort of electric vehicle users, although it does not explain why battery preconditioning was not included as standard from the launch of these models, just as everyone expected.
