The Lexus NX gets ready for 2027: this is the update for the popular Japanese model
The Lexus NX 2027 is ready to go on sale and will reach international markets at the end of 2026, with the first units delivered in 2027.

Having been introduced to the market five years ago with the second generation, the Lexus NX is being updated to meet the challenges of 2027. It does so with an improved interior design, along with a longer body and new hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains.
Exterior design of the new Lexus NX
On the outside, the changes begin with a longer body, which grows by 30 millimetres, reaching 4,690 millimetres. The wheelbase, however, remains the same at 2,690 millimetres. Another change is the front LED light signature, which combines with the sculpted Spindle grille. The triangular air intakes in the bumpers add the finishing touch of elegance to the model.

The profile offers few changes compared with the current model, but the new alloy wheels and the removal of chrome trim make it clear that this is a completely new version.
The rear features updated graphics for the rear lights, with an L-shaped motif on either side of the illuminated emblem. On the F Sport trim, piano black finish details have been added to the bodywork. It also includes aerodynamic improvements, and the 20-inch wheels add red brake calipers. As for body colours, new shades are added, such as Sonic Platinum, the khaki green Sonic Tellys and Titanium Carbide Grey, which is exclusive to the F Sport version.

The cabin has also been redesigned, with a new dashboard that recalls the one fitted to the Lexus ES. At the centre is a 14-inch multimedia screen running the latest Lexus Connect operating system. The digital instrument display measures 12.3 inches. The centre console offers a cleaner look, and the physical controls provide haptic feedback and are hidden within the dashboard trim when not in use.
The upholstery has also received new colours and designs, such as Clay Red and, for the F Sport, Prominence. The wood trim is in Dark Oak, and there is also Forged Bamboo trim, made with 55% sustainable materials.

The steering wheel is also newly designed, and the seat position has been optimised for greater comfort. Higher-end versions feature the Lexus Sensory Concierge system, which synchronises the ambient lighting, screen patterns, climate control, seat heating and personalised cabin fragrances across three modes: Inspire, Radiance and Revitalise.
As for safety, it has been enhanced with the Lexus Safety System+ package, with longer-range sensors and a camera that provides an improved view of the surroundings.
New hybrid technology
As for hybrid drive, the improvements are quite significant. The Lexus NX 2027 sits on the TNGA-K platform, which offers greater structural rigidity. The suspension has been revised and the electric power steering recalibrated, while a cornering brake system has been added and sound insulation improved.
It features the Lexus sixth-generation hybrid technology, which delivers more efficiency and performance. The power control unit and transmission have been combined into a single unit, as is done in Lexus’s electric vehicles. This reduces weight by 10 kg and lowers the height by 10 centimetres, which allows for more interior space.

In the flagship model, the NX 450+ plug-in hybrid, there is an output of between 288 and 322 CV, depending on the market. It has E-Four all-wheel drive, which allows for several driving conditions. The lithium-ion battery has greater rigidity and increases capacity by 30%, from 18 kWh to 23 kWh.
This battery allows an electric-mode range of 100 kilometres under the WLTP cycle, 26 kilometres more than the current model. It can be charged with a DC fast charger, so full capacity is reached in a short time. The eAxle motor is paired with a 2.5-litre combustion engine, and the combined output ranges from 188 to 241 CV, with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
In some markets an entry-level version will be sold, the NX 300h hybrid, which features front-wheel drive and a smaller 2.0-litre engine. This version has a combined output of 194 CV. In other markets there will be versions with combustion engines only, without electrification.
Launch of the Lexus NX 2027
The Lexus NX 2027 will be available in international markets at the end of the year. In Europe, the first units will begin to be delivered in spring 2027. Since the model’s launch in 2014, the Lexus NX has sold around 1.9 million units worldwide. It is the equivalent of Lexus’s well-known Toyota RAV4, so it bears a strong resemblance to this more popular model.
