Toyota begins sales of the bZ7 saloon in the Chinese market

The second all-electric model developed in China by GAC-Toyota is already on sale in this market, offering a CLTC range of up to 710 km.

Toyota, in collaboration with its Chinese partner GAC, has begun selling the bZ7 in the Chinese market, its new all-electric saloon developed entirely in this Asian country. This new model is already on sale with a launch price starting from 147,800 yuan, which at the current exchange rate comes to around 18,400 euros. A truly competitive figure for a vehicle of these characteristics.

The bZ7 is the second model in the bZ family created from scratch in China, after the bZ3X. Measuring 5.13 metres long, 1.96 metres wide and 1.51 metres high, this is a vehicle of generous dimensions with a spacious interior, thanks in large part to its wheelbase, which exceeds 3 metres -3.02 m-.

One of the most interesting features of the bZ7 is that its propulsion system does not come from Toyota or GAC, but from Huawei. It incorporates the Drive ONE system from the Chinese technology company, an integrated platform that combines an electric motor, inverter and transmission in a single unit. Among its specifications, the 207 kW output of its motor stands out, while its top speed is limited to 180 km/h. In addition, the vehicle uses Huawei’s HarmonyOS 5.0 operating system for its advanced intelligent cockpit.

Other technical specifications to take into account

As far as the battery pack is concerned, supplied by CALB, it is offered in two capacities, both using LFP cells. The first has a capacity of 71.35 kWh, sufficient to cover up to 600 km under the CLTC homologation cycle. The second has a larger capacity, reaching 88.13 kWh, which increases the CLTC range to 710 km depending on the version chosen. The maximum charging power is 128 kW.

In terms of driver assistance, the bZ7 features a sophisticated ADAS system developed by Momenta. This equipment uses 27 sensors and works both in town and on the open road. The top version adds a LiDAR sensor that enables the Navigation on Autopilot (NOA) function.

This new electric saloon from Toyota was initially presented at the Shanghai Motor Show (Auto China) in April 2025, where its design was mainly showcased. Now, with its commercial launch, all the technical details are known and deliveries of the first units to customers have begun at Toyota dealerships in China. For the time being, there are no plans to export the bZ7 to Europe or to any other markets outside China.
